If Americans Only Knew . . . .
Having lived three years in Egypt, I am painfully aware of the suffering and oppression of Palestinians. Those of you that know me well, have likely heard my perspective. These youtube videos help to make the situation a little clearer. Those of you that are American would do well to understand that your tax dollars are going to support oppression. Please don't misunderstand me. This is not an accusation nor is it meant to offend, only inform.
I am sincerely hoping people will comment on the video and the issue of the Middle East in general. Perhaps you can come to a better understanding of the epic tragedy that Palestinians endure. Those of you that respond by pointing out that the Palestinians have suicide bombers need to consider how many decades Palestinians endured the horrible conditions of the refugee camps* and their hopeless lives BEFORE they began to strap explosives on. (*There still are millions of Palestinians in refugee camps.)

It's more than OK. I am glad you did. The more people that understand this stuff, the better, as you know.
Instead of asking how can the US turn away when this is going on, perhaps a different angle - what does Israel do for (or have on) the US that "justifies" this?
I am not sure. There definitely are some very well connected and powerful people in the Jewish lobby. Noam Chomsky has a lot to say about this, but I don't recall if he answers this question. I will try to find out. Remind me if I forget.
